In many British municipalities, an obstacle run is the highlight of the summer. For muscleman and couch potatoes, young teens and fit elderly, the obstacle run is really fun. In short: for everyone who is up to the challenge, wants to measure their strength and have a good laugh along the way. Looking for the perfect design for such a race, Running Events gave JB Inflatables an opportunity to design inflatables for their annual event top track. And this is how we created this 5000 beast.
The typical British setting for such a war of attrition is often 'The Races': the local racecourse. So we had to come up with a course that would push people to their limits, instead of horses. The basic principle was that it would be sporty, safe and fun for young and old, big and small. In other words, everyone.
Approach: prove what you promise
We immediately received approval for the design. The organization just wanted to be sure that the material could withstand the average BMI and enthusiasm of the participants. No problem, we sent some samples of the vulnerable surfaces and seams. All extra reinforced, water-resistant. Customer was assured and gave green light. The rest was a piece of cake: cut out, stitch pack it up!
That same summer, in several English villages and towns, people were able to crawl and sneak, jump and wriggle, struggle and slide through, over inflatable structures such as the Mega Mountains, Temple of Doom and Leap of Faith. Running Events rents the course every season to municipalities or private operators, who get a top quality attraction: extremely strong, quick to set up and easy to keep clean. Success guaranteed, for many years to come!
This run brings out the best in people: morale and solidarity. Stay-at-home moms turn into real commandos, children help each other across the finish line. It is wonderful to see.
